Nothing is Real (2023)
Installation / Sound Exhibit
Synthetic grass, teapot, loudspeaker & light.
This installation work interprets musical compositions by John Lennon (1966) and Alvin Lucier (1990). The melody from the Beatles song Strawberry Fields Forever (recorded on piano) is played through a very small speaker placed inside a tea kettle. The audience enter a surreal picknick scene on a strawberry field inside a (gallery) space. They are invited to play around with the tea kettle’s lid, thereby transforming the resonance and shape of the sound.
